The phrase “Simp Nation” is often used by self-described simps, some of whom appear to embrace the simp label and others who detest it. The hashtag #SimpNation has amassed over 66 million views on TikTok where boys joke about their overzealous behaviors around crushes and drag each other for being simps. It's been a while since I made one a these. Many memes depict him as the ultimate simp who even killed his friend over unrequited love for a woman. This led to a discussion online about whether or not Mordechai is a simp and to what degree he is one. In the Regular Show, there are several instances in which the character Mordechai makes great sacrifices for girls he’s interested in but who doesn’t like him back. There’s another definition of simp that has a very NSFW connotation as is the content on the r/simp subreddit.

In men’s rights and incel-dominated online spaces, simp is used similarly to cuck, often as a way to air grievances against women that are often rooted in toxic and even violent masculinity. The term has long existed as in Black culture, appearing in several hip hop songs including “Dedicate” by Lil Wayne and “Cash S**t” by Megan Thee Stallion use the term to characterize men who are overeager in their relationships with women. Recently, the term has risen to popularity in more mainstream online communities, but the term has been used online and off for years.
